Week of June 8
Sunday evening we took a pizza to the park and ate it and played a little bit as it was so nice outside!!
Chris was making this animal's nose touch the ground when Ryken would come near. Ryken just laughed and tried not to get caught!
(if the park looks familiar to you Kristin, it's because it is the one at Yunker Farms)
There was a little sand box around with toys left in it!
Chris and Ryken kicked the soccer ball around and into the nets near by!
Monday there was supposed to be this "Bring the Zoo to the Library" sort of event, but when we got there it was just a room where you had to sit and listen to the people talk about the animals. I was thinking it was going to be more like a petting zoo from the description...so we opted out and went into the play room instead. Which was Ryken's first time, so he loved it!
He liked the dress up clothes!
And after all that play, we did get some books too!
A favorite in our house is Goodnight Gorilla.
These next 3 pictures were within minutes and it was just fun to see it happen! :)
Glad I was able to capture them!
We went on a walk one evening and it was just beautiful out!
God displaying his beautiful handiwork!
He put his hat and sunglasses on all by himself! I had to get a picture! Made me smile!
We saw a mother duck with her babies in front of our house this week.
Ryken calls this toy his laptop as well as his iPad. So it made me smile when I saw it sitting on top of the other laptops in the house! Love how his mind works!
Sorraya woke up from a nap right when the laundry was done! She is clearly enjoying the warm, fresh towels!!
These two love to interact together!
Notice Sorraya is intent on seeing what Ryken is doing here! She arches her back often to see him better! She really does enjoy baths!
And look who found her feet!! :)
My clean babies!!
Chris snapped this one morning when Ryken woke up extra early and Chris brought him in bed as he left the bed to get ready for work!
Loving the outdoors!
Came down from putting Sorraya to bed one night and saw this sweet moment.
Milk all over her face! :(
She rolls to her stomach after eating and often spits up. Sometimes I hear it, sometimes I don't. So sometimes I will find her with milk all over her face, in her ears, in her hair. She basically rubs her face all over in it when she takes a break from holding her head up and looking around! But notice her smile! :) Doesn't always happen...sometimes she is screaming and I know she must be covered in milk!
On Friday, we participated in the Teddy Bear Parade! It was a fun morning!
Saturday, Chris got to use his smoker for the first time!
It was an interesting day.
We had bought the chickens about a month ago when we first planned to do it, but that didn't happen, so we froze them. We took them out 2 days before, but apparently, it needed to be 3 or 4 days (which we read 2-3 days was enough)! But we got them thawed enough to cook. Chris hoped to smoke them with a can of chicken broth in them, but since they were still some what frozen, we couldn't get the can inside! So we ended up just doing a rub.
A little peek at them smoking away! Getting golden brown!
Things were rocky with the high winds, but then the conditions turned worse when it started raining! We would have moved it to the front porch if we knew it was going to rain. Fargo weather predictions are so unpredictable...so we tried our best. Then we brought them in and cooked them in the oven for almost 2 hours then they were finally up to the right temperature.
But alas... through all the mishaps - some out of our control and some in our control - they turned out tasty. Chris' instincts were great in what to do next. We didn't know what they would turn out to be, but they were good and we have a lot of chicken to use in other meals. And Chris learned a lot for the next time around!
Celebrating the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary!

Lots of sweet moments! Your library is like a children's myseum! And that smoker story just made me smile. Hope next time he can use a can of broth.
ReplyDeleteRyken is such a smarty pants! Putting his "laptop" with the rest! And I love the pictures of the two together reading and in the bath. So sweet! It is also cool you have the picture of you and Ryken sleeping. Glad Chris thought of that! I too hope the smoker works out better next time around!
