Sorraya: 7 Months

Sorraya is 7 months old!
Hard to believe, really!

This little girl is a delight! Rarely short on smiles! She is laid back and easily entertained. She is a people person. She loves to interact with them and lock eyes when she hears a voice and then offers a sweet smile that would brighten anyone's day. She loves to play peek-a-boo. She admires Ryken. She loves to watch Ryken and all his activity. When Ryken is running around laughing, we often see Sorraya just beaming- enjoying it completely. Ryken often talks to Raya when we are driving and I look back and just see Raya beaming! They will laugh together. She is always quick to find him again when he has run past her...almost obsessed sometimes in being able to see him. They truly have a sweet, sweet relationship together. Sorraya loves being on her belly. If you lay her down on her back, she still immediately try and get over. Makes diaper changing a little more difficult. She plays happily for long periods of time on her belly. Going from one toy to the next. Since Ryken's cars are all over, she has really come to like them, especially since they roll and have wheels! She pushes up on her hands very high. She is a wild little thing. Always wanting to be kicking her legs. She will just rolly pollie herself around a room to get to what she wants and where she wants. She can scoot backwards and often pushed her legs under the couch and then needs help out. She will scoot forward to toys occasionally, but usually just turns to get the ones that she can reach, rolls to other ones, or waits for her brother to give her something else. She will do a little plank position that I call the tripod. Her feet are together and she just pushed her bum up and then makes a C and rolls over-inching forward just a tad! :) She still loves to bounce like crazy in her bouncer. She has been in the discovery center a few times and has very much enjoyed it. She is getting stronger at sitting up, but still has a way to go. Not strong enough to leave unsupervised, but can sit for short periods of time. She likes to sit in the bumbo and chew on the straps and watch what is going on around her. Sorraya enjoys bath time very much. She loves the water running over her. Sorraya sits in her carseat well when we drive most the times during the day. I look back and just see her looking around, out the window, playing with her feet or smiling at Ryken. She has recently started being irritable in the evenings, around 7:30 and on. She will just cry/scream the whole way. Which is not like her, so we always wonder if something is actually wrong. But since it is happening more and more, we think it is just a stage. She still enjoys chewing on her feet and will often scoot over to Chris or mine as well - but we don't let her! haha! She has a strong little grip and always has her hands out ready to reach, grab or touch something. I have been carrying Sorraya in the Ergo carrier more this past month or so and she really seems to like it. She will nap in it well, which is helpful when we are away from home and she is needing one. She likes to hear people sing. She loves to be tickled. She loves when we blow air on her air/face. She loves ticking noises that we make with our mouth. She loves her dad's beard-she intentionally finds it and either plays with it or just rests her hand on it. She loves to be "dropped" in the air and caught. She likes being upside down. She likes arching her head back when laying on your lap.

She loves chewing on anything and everything. She still spits up plenty. Doesn't drool much yet. No teeth have popped through either. She still hasn't tried any solids. Nurses around every 3 hours.

Sorraya goes down for bed around 8:30-9:00pm. She does not sleep through the night anymore. She is up 1-2 times usually. She usually wakes up squealing and just plays till we get her. Other mornings she is ready to eat, now! When we open her door, it squeaks, so she hears us come in and she scrambles to get to where she can see us through the crib rails and just smiles! It's one of my favorite times of the day! She sleeps with just her legs swaddled at night and sleeps on her side or stomach every night now. She recently slept one night unswaddled and we hope that continues.  She sleeps unswaddled for naps everyday. She is needing a short morning nap more and more these days and then sleeps around when her brother does and then usually an early evening nap as well. She wears size 3 diapers at night since she wakes up wet most mornings and that seems to help. She has gotten her legs stuck in the crib rails a few times and doesn't care for that! :)

She is 15 lbs and just over 24 inches long.
We can't believe how fast these 7 months have gone. She has changed so much and we are more in love with her each month!

  1. WOW! 7 months! That is so crazy! She is going to be moving and grooving and crawling all over the place real soon here! I love that she tries to see you guys when she hears her door open. So cute! And I love hearing about her and Ryken's relationship. Hopefully that continues for many many years to come. Love reading all about adorable little Sorraya!
