Tot School: Blue

Ryken had a fun week learning the color blue.

Blue Discovery Box

 Coloring and do-a-doting the blue sheet.

He noticed the blueberries right away!

 Making a tape collage. 

He struggles with getting sticky things off his fingers like stickers…so I thought this was be good practice.

He was frustrated for the first little bit, but then he got the hang of it. 

 Blue is for Blueberries

 Having blueberries in his oatmeal for breakfast. His favorite!!

 Mom made a "blueberry bush".

The blueberry bushes in the book were not thorny and nasty like the ones I have experienced.

But we went with it anyways. 

It was pretty comical watching a lady 37 weeks pregnant army crawling under to make it bigger. 

Ryken's face lite up with he saw the "blueberry bush".

 It didn't take long for him to start tearing it down. But it was just tape holding it up and streamers ripe so easily. 

 But then, he started picking up the pieces and trying to hang them back up over the one piece that remained on the wall.

 And once that fell down, he was determined to get it to stick again!

Blue is for Horse

 We made a horse shoe print card for cousin Matthew's birthday this week!

 Ryken colored inside with a blue marker. Very well too!

Blue is for whale.

I was disappointed, the book "My Blue Boat" was checked out as I was driving over the library. Because it was there available right before we left! :( 

So plan be came into play, but that is why all the activities are boat related!:) 

But it worked out nice, since there was a blue whale on our coloring sheet from the first day. 

 Water painting a boat blue!

 Came across this fizzing ocean bucket idea and had to try it.

Baking soda and water rolled into balls and then pour blue vinegar over the soda balls, it makes for fizzing fun. 

 Ryken watching it very carefully the first time!

 He was a fan, and wished it didn't have to stop so soon!

 Found this easy idea for an ice boats that was a hit! 

Froze some water with blue food coloring in it and cover the cup with tin foil and stuck a popsicle stick in the foil to hold it in place while it froze.

Added a foam triangle from triangle week and there you have it… a boat.

 They melted quick, but he enjoyed them. And of course our water had a tint of blue to it as well!

 Kinda like a popsicle right? 

Another book that was checked out right at the last minute was "The Little Blue Truck".

So we made due with another form of transportation…a bike!

But the rabbit was blue! :)

 Mom made a lame track for his cars and trucks leading into his tunnel. 

 He was lining up all his cars!

 Blue is for the Cookie Monster.

 We had a cookie monster made out of a cereal box.

Cut a whole for the mouth...

 Pointed out where the mouth was...

 Then reviewed family members and colors by putting them in the mouth.

He did much better at this than I thought he was.

He enjoyed putting things in the mouth!

We made to make Monster Cookies too!

Dad asked for them a couple weeks ago, and I knew blue week would be the perfect time for them!

Ryken enjoyed the mini MnM's and helping out by pouring in what he could!

 We had to make a few with sun butter instead of peanut butter since Ryken is still allergic to peanut butter. 

 He was a fan of the cookies!

And milk goes so good with them!!! YUM!

Next week is: purple…and it will be really simple!
