Sorraya: 9 Months

Raya Beans (or as Ryken calls her 'Little Bean') is 9 months old!!!
How can it be!?
First tooth

She still is such a little ray of sunshine! Easily entertained and so generous with the smiles! She smiles with her eyes....her whole face, really! She is an observer - always wants to see what is going on around her. She has become quiet the chatter box. She is far more vocal than Ryken was at this age. Sorraya is not a big fan of hats. She doesn't care for her face being cleaned either. She loves to play with her big brother! She loves to watch him run around and she loves to come after him when he says "come get me Raya!" She is crawling all over the place and is loving the mobility. She enjoys finding her way over in the dining room and under the highchair. She likes crawling under the table. She likes playing with the carpet on the bottom of the stairs. She loves the door stops. We often find her sitting on the cushioned mat we have in front of our kitchen sink. She likes the dishwasher as well and stands up by it and has pulled silverware out a few times. She loves crawling over and getting ahold of the cord to the vaccum. She loves shoes, laces, socks and feet. She will crawl over to a particular person when she wants them. She will also sit on her feet or pat at them when she wants to be picked up. She has started pulling herself up and standing while holding onto things. She loves to spit and make noises with her lips. She loves to eat leaves. She will put anything in her mouth she can find. She hardly drools at all. She likes to get up on her hands and feet  and stick her little bum in the air and sometimes she will then putShe got her first tooth on the bottom with another one close behind. She got her first cold as well - a runny noes. She sat in the shopping cart for the first time this month. She also now sits in the bathtub on her own and loves splashing. She also enjoys bathtub with her brother. She started knocking her little fist on things. Especially on the ground. It's so cute! Thankfully, she has stopped screaming in the car at night when she previously would. She has started bouncing to music when she hears it. She will response to her name. She loves when people clap and gets excited right along with them. She got to have a nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa Flin. Lots of extra love. She wears size 3 diapers. You can't keep socks on her, they always fall off or she pulls them off and chews on them. Her eyes are a dark blue/grey with hints of brown in them.

We took a break from trying solids with Sorraya since she didn't seem all that interested. But that was short lived. She started showing signs that milk just isn't cutting it anymore. So we tried again and it went much better this time. She has had banana's, peaches, yogurt, and sweet potatoes. She likes them all but sweet potatoes. She has gagged more than once - as I tried a few different times with different consistencies...but it's a no go. Peaches are her favorites so far. She will eat about 1/4 cup or a little less. She very much enjoys yogurt and will eat half of one. She has improved dramatically with her fine motor skills. She picks up little puffs and puts them in her mouth with no problem. She eats solids 3 times a day along with milk. I can't say we have eliminated a milk feeding, but they certainly are decreasing in time. The amount of spit up has not been as must either. We are thankful.

Sorraya continues to be a good sleeper. Nothing to complain about! She consistently takes one big nap during the day, and one cat nap most days, either in the morning or in the later afternoon/early evening. She often falls asleep in the car. She goes to bed right around 8 most nights. She still gets up 1-2 times a night. She gets up for the day anywhere from 7:30-9:00am. She wakes up with sleepy eyes. It takes a while before she looks awake, but that doesn't affect her attitude.

She weighs 16 lbs 1 oz and is 26.25 inches long.

  1. Oh sweet Sorraya! How are you so big already!?!? I love that she can crawl around and chase Ryken or go to who she wants to now. So much fun! In no time they will be running around and playing with each other! :) Such cute pictures of her as always and those teeth are so adorable! I am so glad that she is loving solids now and spitting up less! Very nice for you all I am sure.
