Day 2 Day Joys

Week of August 24

A good friend from church found these little Mary Janes at a thrift store and picked them up for Sorraya. She said "every little girl needs a pair of Mary Janes!" It will be a while till she can fit in them...but for $0.70 she couldn't pass them up! It was thoughtful and sweet!
Our good friend Ellen came over this week!
Ryken and Ellen were "baking cookies" here!
Ellen is such a sweet soul and loves getting down to play with the kids! They love her back as well! We all do! Who doesn't?!?
Ellen has collected stuffed animals over the years and she continues to downsize her collection by giving them to many kids that she knows and loves. Ryken was given this penguin this week. He kept calling it a bird, until I showed him some youtube videos of penguins and then he got it right. He liked to lay the penguin on its belly and ride it like a horsey! haha!
Sorraya is such a goof! She likes to arch back in the Bumbo!
Good thing we have a strap now!
One of the last pictures of a view out our kitchen window! :( The house next door is almost all the way framed! Will miss the view...but it will be nice to have the lot filled!
Sorraya is army crawling all over the place these days! Had her in the middle of her room at one point and come back to find her (by hearing the door stop) in the corner, playing with the door stop!
Mattress on the ground, makes for a fun, bouncy jungle gym!
We spent a lot of time playing this morning. Lots of toys, lots of books! Lots of laughs!
The temps this week have been in the 70's and have just been lovely!
We had a nice afternoon at the park!
Swinging together!
It was Sorraya's first time and she loved it!
She just sat so relaxed, twirled her tiny feet in little circles, smiled and squealed.
Ryken even wanted to get in and swing for a bit with Raya. He usually doesn't care for swings all that much, so it was fun to see him ask to go in!
I had Sorraya in my lap, facing me, and we swung for a bit. She just snuggled in and would smile and coo here and there!! It was such a sweet time! I loved it!
Sorraya's new thing is when she spits up on the floor, she smears it around in a rainbow shape.
You can't hear her spit up, so we will come and find big puddles of spit up that have been smeared around OR she has then army crawled through them! Fantastic!
On Wednesday, all our sprinklers were finished being put in and are working.
The next day, they came back and put in the control box. The man was telling me all about it and Chris has done research on it all. It seems like good quality sprinklers and a very smart system. We are excited about it all! (never thought I would say that about sprinklers) Now we are just waiting for the ground to dry for a touch up of the final grade and then the seed will be sprayed on! YAY!
No picnic at the airport this week! It had been a very wet, muddy week!

Chris and I got to go on a date on Friday night!!!!!!!
Oh it was wonderful!
We went downtown to Rhombus Guys and got to sit on their new balcony patio.
It was beautiful! There were storm clouds all around us, but nothing ever came down! We were thankful we didn't have to cut our date short!
Saturday, we smoked salmon for supper!
It was so delicious!!!

Celebrating ordinary moments that make life extraordinary!

  2. Those shoes are ao cute!! Do you know the neighbors? I can't remember! Love the toes out the swing:) and the mattress on the floor--we used to do that! Sometimes Brent pulls off the futon mattress now! Ha. Those door stops! I had to take the little ends of some of ours because they fall off! And I don't know if it is just the angle, but that pizza looks about as big as your heads!! It's so big and looks yummy!
