Sorraya: 12 Months

1 Year! 12 months! 52 Weeks! 365 Days!!
This little girl has grown up so fast!
She was trying to touch the camera...but look at how perfect it turned out! haha!

Miss Sorraya Adira is quite the little gal! She is our little sweet pea (Dad's favorite nickname for her).   Her demeanor is filled with sweetness, silliness, sassiness and stubbornness. Her smiles are contagious and her snuggles and loves. She is a hoot. She loves to scrunch her noes and breath quick breaths. She loves to point at any and everything that catches her eye. She loves to dance when she hears music. She makes known what she likes and doesn't with her voice and tenacity. She is not one who likes to do what she doesn't want to do. She will make a big stink about it! She loves to be with her brother. Involved in with what he is playing with and where he is. She loves to watch him and copy him. She often laughs at him. She is easily excited.
Sorraya is getting around great these days. No walking yet - but won't be too long. She loves to cruise around the furniture. She loves climbing up the stairs on her own. She will stand on her own not holding on to anything. She walks great when she is holding onto our hands - just doesn't have the confidence to let go on her own yet. She crawls just fine from place to place. When she is excited and wants to get somewhere fast...she drops her head down and just gives it her all and goes as fast as she can- usually with a squeal of excitement! She still loves crawling through the little space between the recliner and end table as a short cut. She loves climbing into boxes and lids and sitting in/on them. She is very aware of her ability to reach and get at things that she once could not. She loves being under things - like table and chairs. She loves it when we bring her up onto the couch and let her look out the window. She will just bounce with excitement and point at what she see's! She also loves crawling around and rolling around on our bed. She loves baths and squeals when she hears the water come on and just can't wait to get in and splash. She doesn't like when the water runs down her face. She loves pulling off her socks and chewing on them - always a fun distraction for her. She usually pulls her hat off before we even have her buckled in. Thankfully she leaves it on when we are actually outside in the cold. She is a good rider in the car. Often see her looking out the window or watcher her brother. My favorite it when I hear the two of them laughing at each other. Sorraya loves music. She bounces and rocks out from side to side with an occasional hand in the air waving. She is a biter. She goes after toes the most. Ryken likes to tell people that she is a biter! :/ It is obvious when she wants someone - she will follow you around and climb up your legs. She will often say "mamamama" when she comes after me with her nose scrunched. She is the type that wants to be in your lap, but then once up in your lap, she acts like she wants down...but when you put her down, she wants back up! haha! And she does not sit well on your lap. She is constantly moving, twisting, arching, trying to stand. It has been confirmed that she is far harder to train to sit for church than Ryken was. She is distracted with toys and quiets down - where as Ryken got louder with toys - so never got any once that was discovered. She loves to bounce on her own and on someone's lap. She loves playing with or on pillows and piles of blankets. She loves when Daddy comes home. She will hear the door and his voice and squeal and crawl over to the gate and wait for him to pick her up. When she is excited when being picked up - she kicks her legs. She is a wild thing when it comes to getting changed. She kicks her legs and when you try to catch her feet for socks - it almost seems impossible most days. She is so not helpful when it comes to putting on her pants either. You will get one leg in and then you will work on the other and she will pull the first one out. One word to describe changing her - wrassle! She is such a good shopper. She loves to see what is going on around her. She smiles at all the employees who talk to her! Sorraya has a good ability to catch. She plays catch with dad a lot and she gets ahold of it most times. (Chris rolls it to her inbetween her legs.) She loves to be tickled- especially by daddy! She loves paper and rarely gets to play with it! She also discovered the fun of unrolling the toilet paper this month. She can and does wave often. She also loves to clap! Some of her favorite toys: magnadoodle, golfball, calculator, puzzle pieces. Nicknames: Raya, Raya-Beans, Beans, Beaner Pot, Little Beaner Pot, Sweet Pea.

Sorraya continues to do great with eating. It is safe to say that she loves to eat as well! She spends a lot of time in the highchair! She is expanding her food choices each day. Her favorite is still yogurt! She was not eating my vegetables that I was making for her, so we got some jarred food from the store and that has been no issue. We are thankful she is getting some vegetables in her diet and taste buds. She loves to feed herself. She recently fell in love with mandarin oranges and cheese. She hates wearing her bib and usually ripes it off her neck before we can take it off nicely. She will often scratch herself in the process but doesn't seem to mind. She still will throw food on the floor if she doesn't like it or is full. Little stinker. She likes to rock back and forth in the high chair and gets going really good sometimes and hits her head on the back. She dances in the highchair too. It's a challenge finding what else to feed her - she ate a whole can of pears in one sitting this month. Growth spurt?? She is not afraid to try new things that are put in front of her. She has 5 teeth. Three on top and two on the bottom. She loves to find crumbs that are on the ground where Ryken eats.

Sorraya is a good sleeper! She goes with little to no fight. She wakes up around 7:30-8:30 most mornings. Ryken loves to come up and get her with me. She is so happy in the morning! She still wakes up at least once a night on a regular basis. There are those occasional nights where she sleeps the whole night. She pretty much has one nap a day. It is around 1:00pm-3:00pm. Sometimes when she wakes up early- she will take an early nap around 10:00am. We have started working on her falling asleep without nursing at naps and she is doing well. I rock her and sing Psalm 23! She fights the cuddles at first, but then gives it. After finishing the Psalm, I put her down and she might cry a bit, but she stops very fast. It's been encouraging. She goes to bed around 8:00-8:30pm after kissed from daddy and Ryken. She is still nursed to sleep at night.

At 12 months she weighs 18lbs 1 oz and is 28 inches long!
