She has a wide range to her personality! She does what we would expect from her personality, but she also keeps us guessing and surprises us all at the same time! A few words to describe this little miss...
Tenacious:
Not easily stopped or pulled apart; continuing for a long time, very determined to do something
We have said this from the beginning of her life and it has only confirmed itself with each year. Sorraya does not give up easily. When she has something in mind to do, so works at it and struggles through it and gets it. It's so enjoyable to watch her figure things out and work through it. Like putting hats, socks or shoes on - she finds it interesting and wants to get it. She tries different ways and multiple times before she will ask for help. And even then, we will say try again or encourage her some way and she will start again to do it herself. In letting us know something, she is quick to be consistent still she is heard. Whether it is she is still hungry and is wanting more to eat or is she is done and needing to be cleaned up. She will repeat. and repeat. She is learning to talk so much right now and it is so fun to hear, but with it comes lots of questions as to what she is saying. We will say one thing and if it isn't it, she will repeat the same "words" again and again and again. When we try for too long she will just say "no" and get a little irritated. But she continues to try, she doesn't give up. When she does get something like a buckle or has climbed up somewhere...she will exclaim "I did it!" She is very much tenacious!

Feisty:
not afraid to fight or argue; very lively and aggressive
Sorraya has some spunk to her. She is a character. She really has given her older brother a run for his money. She has been so good for him. She is a fighter and makes sure her point is across. She barks back at Ryken if he says something to her. She will fight to keep a toy or get it back when it is taken from her. She will bite, pull hair, hit and throw things as well in certain situations. She can be that annoying little sister. We have called her sweet Sorraya from the beginning, and yes, she has that side, but she also is wild and aggressive as well. There is a lot of feist and strength in such a little body!

Adventurous:
not afraid to do new or dangerous things; full of danger and excitement
Since Sorraya was moving around, we knew she was going to be our adventurous one. She is quick to try new things and not afraid to try them. Like sled rides, riding on people's back, or getting a ride on a blanket pulled on the ground. She is quick to climb and touch things that she doesn't know what they do. She moves quickly and fast when she does things. She loves to run and jump - right up to the edge of the stairs. She often climbs and gets stuck. But that doesn't stop her from trying again. She often sits on things to try them out like boxes, toy tractors or bins - sometimes she is pleasantly surprised other times she falls. She is so trusting and will just run at you and expect you to catch her. She will throw herself in your lap and you better he watching. She often smacks her head on things and it doesn't even phase her. It has been different, but fun to have this kind of personality around. Sorraya looks for excitment and is usually pleased with what she finds.

Tender:
Very loving and gentle; showing affection and love for someone or something
Sorraya is sweet and tender indeed, amongst all her other qualities. She is a little lover! She often comes over and wants to be held and sit with you. It is the sweetest when she is with her Daddy! One of her favorite times of the day is when daddy comes home from work! They both run to him and squeal with delight. Dad usually ends up with both kids in his lap moments after getting home. Sorraya went through a real Daddy's-girl stage. She just wanted him in every situation. One time she even was holding his hand while she was eating a snack because she wanted to be so close to him. Another time, we went to a sporting goods store where you can ride a ferris wheel and Ryken and Daddy went for a ride and Sorraya stayed with me and each time Chris and Ryken came back around and waved, she started crying all over again. Another time, she heard the garage door open and she knew daddy was home and she just started crying and saying "Daddy no bye bye!" He wasn't leaving, but she was very aware of it. She loves her daddy! She also is very aware of when babies are crying. She will hear one in the store or on the TV and look to me with concern "Baby, cry!". She knows and remembers when people fall and get hurt. She often repeats how someone fell. She notices bandaids or scabs and is concerned that someone has an owie. She loves her brother. When he isn't up before her (which isn't too often) she looks for him and asks where he is. She also starts going down the stairs to go get him. When he does wake up, she loves to talk into the monitor and say "Come on up, Ryken!" She often grabs him a snack and hands it to him or gives him his drink! She will ask if you are ok when you cough, sneeze or hit something. She is thoughtful! It's so fun to see her around babies. She naturally talks in a high pitched voice all sweet when she talks to a baby. She loves to bring toys to them and spend time with them. It will be fun to watch that nurturing grow once she become a big sister. She is very sensitive to discipline and we appreciate her tender heart toward that as well. She is a little love bug, no doubt!
Quick-Learner:
fast in the ability to gain knowledge or skill by studying, practicing, being taught, or experiencing something
Sorraya has surprised us multiple times with what she has tried and accomplished on her own. She get's an idea, tries it, is determined, and gets it. Since she is tenacious, that really helps her to learn things quickly as she doesn't easily give up. She enjoys putting on clothes. She will find them in the hamper in her room and put on shirts, or pants. She loves to put socks on and off - usually other peoples, but she will get her's on every now and then too. Shoes are fun to her. We often see our shoes in a disheveled mess and know that Sorraya was down playing with them and trying them on. She likes to wear beanies in the house - usually her's or Dad's the most! She hears Ryken count or counting on the TV and she will try to repeat it. She is starting to be interested in colors and blue seems to be the color she can pick out the most right now. She loves to help flush the toilet and throw things away in the trash. She likes to go get things that she has been asked to get. She just recently has started opening doors (which has been a little scary). She has great hand-eye coordination and does great with lids and placing things in there right space for a puzzle. It's been fun to see her learning and we are excited to see what she will pick up next!

She loves to sing and dance. You often see her holding some form of book or paper and standing and singing. And at church, she can be heard "singing along". She often just starts dancing when music is on and its the right beat for her! She rocks herself to sleep in her crib. And when she is sleepy in the car and trying to stay awake, she will rock her head back and forth in the seat. She enjoys taking off her pants when she is playing or when she is in her crib too long an not sleeping. She loves to point out babies, dogs, airplanes, tractors and the moon when we are not at home - or if we are at home and she see's it on TV. She loves special drinks - meaning anything other than water! :) She loves milk (almond milk most), tea, cranberry apple juice, orange juice and Emergen-C drinks! She will just slurp it down and be asking for more. Milk has been the most requested lately. She is always wanting milk. She loves turning off or no lights which ever way they need to go. She loves buttons- especially the automatic doors in public! :) She loves pushing a her play shopping cart around or the little baby stroller at church. She often says "Amen" after singing at church and praying. She does the cutest little folded hands position and head bowed when we pray. She will remind us to pray too if she thinks we have forgotten. She is offended if you don't hold her hand while praying as well! :) She loves to look at books in the car. She is slowly getting better at keeping her shoes and socks on in the car. She loves to sit on Daddy's shoulders. She likes her special blanket that she sleeps with hung up over her crib after the nights sleep and nap. We have a routine where we open the blinds and look outside after a time of sleeping as well. She is still briefly rocked to sleep and will request mom or dad sometimes. She enjoys helping with laundry and will exclaim whose piece of clothing it is as she transfers each piece over to the dryer. She has been enjoying sitting in the booster seat at the table instead of her highchair.
Sorraya weighs 22 lbs and is 32 inches tall. She wears size 4 diapers. Size 18-24 month clothes and size 3-4 shoes. She still wakes up at night most nights for some comfort and rocking. And naps most days!
Sorraya Adira is such a character and joy!! She continues to be sunshine in our lives. She has taught us much and we are so thankful God has placed her in our lives and family! We are excited to see her learn, grow and develop this coming year and see how she does in her role as a big sister! :)
Woke up to Balloons outside her door to run through! She had more fun playing with them afterwards than at first!
Birthday hugs from Ryken!
We went to our grocery store and got a fruit pouch, donut and smoothie to start the day off with a treat!
She doesn't quite have the 2 fingers down! :)
But it would be fitting to say, 2 going on 5!!!
Pictures where she was born are a must every year as long as we live in this house! :)
We went to the mall play place an the kids enjoyed themselves!
We also took pictures of the birthday girl and our family!

Happy Birthday Sorraya!! So fun to read all of these attributes and understand Sorraya more and more even though I got to see a lot of it for myself in December at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Looks like a wonderful birthday! Can't wait to see what God will do in Sorraya's life this upcoming year!
