Avonlea: TEN months

Avonlea is TEN months!!

Oh this little sweet is something special! She is such a good baby and has so much personality, fun and silliness! She is a joy and brightens our day and everyone else's she see's. 

She weighs 18.5lbs and is 26inches long. She wears 9-12month clothes. She is in size 3 diapers. She has 2 teeth through and at least 2 just about to pop through. She can wave and say Mama.

Avonlea is so much fun!! She is playful, silly, joyful, full of personality, flirty and just sweet. She loves to get around now that she is crawling. She gets to find all the thing she didn't find before like cords, decor, books, hard crumbs under the table. She likes being under the kitchen table and crawling through the small space between the couch and end table. She will often crawl over to someones legs and just push her head into them and want to be picked up. She likes to get up on her hands and toes and put her head down on the ground and make a bridge. The other kids did that too- funny how they all do some of the same things. She loves boxes, bags, empty containers. She loves exploring around the outdoors. She loves to eat grass, leaves, rocks of any size. She is an outside baby and I am so thankful. She loves going on walks and being outside. The windier outside the better and she usually squeals with delight. She seems to enjoy car rides- she tends to protest a bit right when she is placed in, but settles in nicely. She loves the swings at the park. She loves baths. She loves being tickled and played with. She loves hanging upside down. She loves laying in a beanie bag and being thrown like a swing back and forth. She loves to suck her thumb. She loves the big kids toys way better than her's - except for the baby toys that make noise. She loves music and dances when she hears a song on, or when we sing at church or during family worship. She loves to see "her" people - her family. She loves when the kids greet her each morning. She loves when daddy come home and she even is starting to recognize grandma and grandpa on FaceTime. 

She continues to be a good sleeper and we continue to be thankful for this new way of dealing with a sleeping baby. She goes to bed after family worship anywhere from 8:30-9:15pm. She drinks a bottle and then goes to sleep. She has started not wanting to rock while laying her head on my shoulder anymore- which is sad, but If she is facing out on my lap it is better. I'm not ready for those snuggles to end before sleep and nap. She takes 2 naps during the day: a late morning and a late afternoon one. She naps anywhere from 1 hr to 2.5hrs. She clearly likes to hold something in the hand she sucks her thumb on...so we have tried several little blankets and nothing has really took, but i noticed one day that she had her burp cloth in her hand as she was sitting in our lap and sucking her thumb so now I put a burp clothe in her bed with her at night and she rolls over and takes to it right away. She typically turns over on her belly right away when i put her in her crib and will suck her thumb with the clothe in it or she will tuck her hands under her belly and sleep like that. She will wake up once or none at all during the night. If she wakes up, I will feed her a bottle and she will go back to bed. She will wake up anywhere from 7:30-9:00am. She does a good job at sleeping at church for naps, as well as other people houses when we are there for lunch or play dates. Very thankful. She hardly falls asleep in the carseat anymore.

She has improved in her eating since last month. She had been on a solids strike and was basically eating bottles, puffs and yogurt drops. But she has done so much better with solids now. She loves to feed herself and is not afraid to try new things. When she wakes up, she typically doesn't want to eat right away, so I will wait 1/2 an hour to an hour to give her a bottle and even then she doesn't always eat it very good. I will give her a bottle then before her morning nap. She does not need to eat all that often. She will eat a bottle again before her afternoon nap and I will often give her a little snack in-between then. Then a bottle again after we eat supper and then again one before bed. Other than the first feed of the day, she typically will eat 6-8oz of formula.

We are so thankful to God for her as part of our family.
