Sorraya:18 months

Our sweet Sorraya is 18 months already!
A year and a half!!

On July 22, Sorraya became a year and a half!!
A little update on our little girl!!

She continues to have such a fun personality! She is our adventurous child! Eager to try new things and has little fear! We often find her climbing on things and standing. She enjoys things when she has little idea of the danger that could have happened. Like the other week, she was riding on a little plastic giraffe, down the driveway, backwards, at full speed. She had her feet pulled up and was saying "weeeeeee" as she was flying down and I ran after her as fast as I needed to stop her from hitting the curb and falling off. I took her off and she started crying! She had so much fun! She keeps us on our toes - let's just say that!
She is such a people person! So friendly! Waving to everyone around and saying "Hi"! Her joy brightens so many people's day as we run errands or meet people on walks or at parks!
Sorraya is stubborn and sensitive! She is very quick to fight for what she wants and doesn't give up easily! Like training her to sit during church or family worship. We have our work cut out for us! But then she is sensitive to discipline - just saying no to her sometimes, she starts to cry and carries on for a while. She is loving to family! One of my favorite times of the day is when Chris comes home. Both kids yell "Daddy" and run to the stairs! She waits for him at the top of the stairs and wants up right away! It's so sweet! She is quick to give kisses and some quick snuggles and love! She is a mix of a little of everything and we love it all!!

A little bit of what Sorraya is up to at a year and a half:
She gives kisses, blows kisses, can go up and down stairs, signs all done and more/eat. She goes to her chair when we tell her it is time to eat or when she is hungry. She really doesn't like being cleaned in the bath. She will play in the water - but being cleaned is the end of the world. She chews the bristles off her tooth brush. She loves music and dancing. She loves to sing along in church, at home, or in the car. She can use a spoon. She is a pro at taking her shoes off. She loves any kind of seat and works hard to get herself into it. She loves when Daddy comes home. She is good at helping clean up and you can even hear her try and sing the clean up song. She loves to play peek-a-boo! I rock her for a few minutes and hum before naps and bedtime and she always wants the blanket over her as we sit. If I don't get it, she leans over and grabs it. And then once we get her from a nap or bed, I always hang up her blanket on the side of the crib and she will hand it to me as soon as I come in. Or sometimes she will try and hang it up! She loves climbing up and laying in Ryken's bed! She gives the best little hugs - she just wraps her little arms around your neck and packs your back a bit. She hates the doctors office. She cries right away when we enter the room with the table. She waves hi and bye and says both. She knows some of her body parts. But her favorite is her belly button. She is often found playing with it! She loves playing with her brother and being around him. She likes to be outside. She enjoys looking at books in the car!

Words Sorraya uses:
Daddy
Mom
Baby
Book
Thank You
Please
Uh Oh
Hi
Bye
Yes
No
Shoe
Airplane
Up
Amen
She does a good job of trying to say words when you ask her too try.
She really doesn't have a name for Ryken yet that we can tell. She must call him something, but I haven't heard a pattern or something that sounds close enough to it!

She is just barely over 19 lbs and petite!
We thank God for this little ray of sunshine and look forward to watching her grow and learn over the months and years!

  1. Ahh! I love reading this update so much because it makes me feel like I know who she is a little more since we are far away and don't see her too often! She sounds like just a delightful little girl that definitely keeps you on your toes! I love reading about all that she likes and doesn't like and cannot believe she is already a year and a half!! WOW! Love you, little Raya Bean!
