Georgia Trip

Our trip to Georgia was from Wednesday, June 5 to Wednesday, June 12.

Wednesday - June 5

At the airport there was this floor that was censored and here Ryken was "playing" air hockey on foot!

He loved chasing the "ball" around...and did big "OHHHHHH's" when it would move across the floor. Easy entertainment.

 On our delta flight and although this was Ryken's 2nd plane ride...he was given his first pair of wings! :) I love the little smile on his face!

We were thankful!

 Once we got in and settled in our hotel, we were ready for some good food.

Chris found this local BBQ place that had good reviews and boy was that true.

It was so yummy! All of it!

We had our first glass of real southern sweet tea too.

It was delicious!

Ryken even had a feast there. Trying all sorts of meat and just loving it,

Chris was proud! :)

Thursday - June 6

 Since we did not have any highchair or booster seat with us, Ryken got to sit in a big chair for all this meals that he ate at the hotel.

It did so well. Never fell off once.

Did enjoy pushing off the table and realizing he could roll back!

 We lived the life of luxury with our rental car.

For those of you who care... it was a Infinity M37X. 

Chris enjoyed it every much!

 Whenever we drove into the city from where we were staying, we got to see the beautiful downtown city buildings. 

 Red Top Mountain State Park was where the wedding was. Right on the lake!

It was beautiful.

We went to the rehearsal around 5:00pm.

 Rehearsing!

 Chris was the best man!

 The soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Gingerich.

Jason's dad is a Pastor and he did the ceremony.

Friday, June 7

Wedding Day!!!

We got there early and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside.

 It has begun!

Saturday, June 8

I got a pretty bad head cold that kept us in the hotel far more than we had hoped to be, but on the better days, we got out! :)

We went to the Coca-Cola Factory in downtown Atlanta. 

 There was so much history of Coca-Cola in this room. I forget how many years worth, but a lot!

 We saw how Coca-Cola was bottled and boxed.

We went into the Taste it room, which is where you could taste coke from all around the world.

I think there were 63 flavors to taste. 

Some from Latin America, South America, Europe, Africa and a few others.

 There were some good, some bad and some just very interesting. 

The one far on the right, two little boys were trying to get me to drink it. They told me it was good, but messed up when saying good and really said bad. But they just kept saying, It's so good, really really good. I never ended up trying it, but Chris did and he said it was like dirt. So the boys were right in their first and true statement of the coke - bad!

 We got a complimentary coke bottle for visiting.

Ryken was enjoying his! :)

It's just his size!

 We got a recommendation to go to The Varsity for lunch.

It was one of the first fast food places downtown. 

It reminded me of In-n-out (good prices, silly hats, and white clothes) but not as good!

But it also was like Sonic in how you could pull up outside and they would take your order and bring it to you.

But it was still very tasty!

We went to Centennial Olympic Park to let Ryken run around.

 It was right in the middle of downtown.

Ryken liked being out of the stroller or car seat and on his feet running around!

 It was wet from all the rain that had been coming down the days prior.

We found a walking trail "way down yonder on the Chattahoochee" river, which was right by where we were staying in Marrietta, Georgia.

It was a lot of green and water!

Just beauty!

Not to many bugs where around and no creatures came out to get us in all the forest life around. :)

Sunday, June 9

We made breakfast before church....

but...we did not have any non stick pans and bad utensils, so the potatoes tasted like olive oil and the eggs were ugly. But the sausage turned out good. 

Chris said he never wanted to cook like this again! 

 We went to another ARBCA church in Georgia.

It was about 30 miles away.

Berean Baptist Church.

They met in a funeral home. 

The owner in a believer and he keeps Sunday mornings open so that small churches like theirs can meet there. 

Kinds neat! Many members told us that they were thankful for the fairly new location to meet in.

Monday, June 10

We drove to Augusta, Georgia which is where a big golf course in that the Pro's use.

Chris knew we wouldn't be able to go in, let alone see in much. He says they are very snooty, and only those in the club can get in.

We found a Sonic in Augusta and ate outside on the patio.

Tuesday, June 11

We went to the Georgia Aquarium.

It had been given really good reviews and we figured Ryken would enjoy looking at everything too!

We saw sting rays first. 

Ryken got excited when they swam by. 

 Then we came to an Alligaotor.

 As Chris was holding Ryken in front of the Alligator, it kept opening and closing his mouth.

It looked like he was trying to eat Ryken's shoes.

 We saw some Beluga whales! There were 4 of them. 

All the animals were very active. It made it all the more enjoyable. 

 The Octopus even came out and showed himself while we were looking for it!

 On a little moving walkway and watching all the big and little fish above and around us. 

 Here is the biggest fish! :)

The jelly fish were our favorite. There were about 4 different kinds and all different color.

 They were so relaxing!

It was a great trip!

Glad we made it!

That afternoon, there was some sunshine, so we went into the pool thinking Ryken would like it.

He whined the whole time. 

It was quite a big cooler than usual, but who knows! 

So we were in the pool for many 10 minutes. 

Wednesday, June 12

Wednesday we flew home. 

We missed our first flight! - Our own fault.

But here it was sitting there for 10 minutes...but they still couldn't let us on.

We got on another flight about 1 hour later and then it was delayed, and then went longer than expected  due to having to go around a storm.

So we missed our connecting flight! :)

Got another flight lined up that left a little over an hour.

Got on that one and Ryken slept the whole way! (it was only a 40 minute flight)

But he needed the nap and we were thankful!

We made it to Fargo and all our luggage was there was well!

Thankfully!

Despite the sickness, we still had a nice time!

We were glad we could go and support and witness the union between Jason and Rachel.

We were happy to see some things that we most likely never would have gotten the chance to see.

We were thankful for the trip!

Now...

We are thankful to be home and back in routine!
