Sorraya: FIVE years old

Sorraya Adira is F*I*V*E!!

She weighs 33 lbs and 3ft 5inches inches tall. She has grown quite a bit in the last year. The Dr. was even shocked at how much she grew. She wears 4T and 5T clothes. It is hard to find pants for this tall and skinny little lady. She often complains about her legs hurting, we think it is growing pains or just from the crazy ways she sits when she eats (she often sits on her feet crossed). Her hair is currently blonde, but the new hair growing underneath is coming in a light brown. She struggles with chapped/dry lips a lot of the time. We try and keep her drinking. She is often covered in bruises from playing so hard.

She is quite the young lady, full of life, attitude, imagination and song.
Raya is always found drawing, coloring or writing of some sort. She has so many little notebooks and papers around the house, and they all are so meaningful to her. She loves to trace and write her letters. She loves making pictures for others, but for Daddy is her favorite. One might consider her a hoarder of things. She finds the sizers from hangers at the store and keeps them. Anything shiny or glittery she picks off the ground and brings home (after asking the cashiers first). She use to find coins like a magnet while at stores, but that has slowed down (but so has our going out). Her seat in the van has so much junk that she has collected that I have her go through it quite often so we can keep it tidy. She collects things in her bed and her underwear draw too. She will often hide things from her brothers and then she forgets where she puts them, and finds them days or weeks later. She loves carrying around her things in little bags or backpacks. I appreciate how she is thankful and finds joys in the littlest of things. She loves gum, mints and candy. She often gets her gum taken away for periods of time due to being irresponsible, but gets it back after so many weeks. She has quite the imagination and is often talking to her self and making her toys talk to one another. She loves to sing and comes up with her own songs often as well as sing the ones that she does know. She has really been dancing a lot lately. It's been so fun to watch as she thinks so much before each move she makes. Some moves are very...interesting to say the least. But she enjoys it and it brings a smile to our face. She is often found with miss-matched jammies and she loves to pick her clothes out, which she has gotten better over the years. She loves getting new clothes. She is a tom-boy as well as a girly girl. She can have messy hair, wear Arsenal jerseys and have marker and food all over her. But she also loves to wear her princess dresses, have her hair done, nails painted, wear jewelry and wear stick on earrings. It is fun to see both sides. She wishes with all her heart to have long hair, she will even pray for it to grow and be long. We remind her she needs to be content with the hair that God has given her so far. Raya has been learning to pray this last year and has really gotten very good at it. It is such a joy to hear her little voice speaking to God. She knows all the 10 commandments and we are slowly working through the catechism, but being that they are quite long answers, she has done a very good job. She also almost has the Lord's prayer memorized and she loves singing the Psalms and has several favorites. I will find her listening to the Psalms when she has iPad time.

Raya can be vert thoughtful with certain things like letting her brother pick a show before her, or giving/serving something to her brothers first above herself. She thinks of things for prayer requests and prays for them. She loves to make pictures and bless others. She is a good friend and kind to the little people around her. But she also can be very nasty, mean and rotten. She yells at her brothers and speaks very unkindly more than we want to hear. She can be very selfish and just want to keep things to herself even if she isn't playing with them at the moment. And she can be very disrespectful sometimes when she responds to Chris or I. We are thankful she is aware that she sins and she often prays that the Lord would forgive our sins and change our heart. We pray daily that the Lord would draw her to Himself and save her of those wicked sins.

She is a good sleeper. We had her stop taking naps a while back because she would not go to bed at night, without coming out and up several different times. She does well with quiet time and I think even looks forward to it! She occasionally comes up in the middle of the night because of scary dreams, but is easily comforted. She is convinced she does not close her eyes when she sleeps. Haha. We have gone over it many times, but she just doesnt fully agree yet.  The kids go to bed around 8:45pm and she is often up anywhere from 7:15am- 8:00am. She sleeps on the top bunk bed now, as she and Ryken switched. She has made herself quite the nest up there, her covers and blankets are rarely as they should be, but she is ok with it. She does a good job of making her bed.

Raya is usually a good eater. In her birthday interview she said her favorite time of the day is eating her meals. She enjoys food and it is fun to see. She still has some picky seasons, but they don't last to long as we nip them in the butt and they get a piece of bread if they complain about their meal they are given. That teaches them pretty quickly to be more thankful for their food and they learn to just quietly pick out the things she doesn't like without complaining. She loves mac n cheese, yogurt, pizza, fruit, pickles, sandwiches (PB & H), cucumbers. She loves any type of special drink like chocolate milk, orange juice, lemonade, green machine or any other kind of juice. We often give her almond milk as she has complained about her heart hurting with cows milk. She loves smoothies and all kinds of dessert.

She is spunky and sweet! We love you Sorraya Adira!
