Week of March 1
Ivan and Sorraya are buds!
Ivan and Sorraya are buds!
Matt helping Sorraya practice walking!
Monday morning, March 2, Ryken turned 3!!
He came out of his room to balloons!!
He was surprised and sure enjoyed going through them and kicking them about!
Then he asked if I could go get Raya and bring her down to play too!
How I taught Ryken to turn his light on! He just isn't quite tall enough yet!
Now every morning, he waits in his room with the lights on! Oh independence!
Birthday boy with his balloons!
Caught Sorraya looking at books so intently this morning!
We started off the day celebrating by going to the grocery store to get a donut. As we checked out, Ryken was given a lollipop, then he told the men that it was his birthday and they gave him another lollipop and told us to go to the flower/gift counter and ask for a balloon!
We did!
The lady even picked out an orange balloon! (which is his favorite color)
We got a special drink from the coffee shop and ate our donut with his balloons along side!
So this morning, there was this house moving to a different location because it was bought out due to floor construction. I thought Ryken would enjoy seeing it move! So we came by to see what the status of the house was...but it was still on the lot! Plenty of electricians were trying to dismantle street lights and other things that would be in the way of it moving!!
We ran a few errands and then came back and checked to see how it was coming along and we passes the main street and saw that it was in the middle of the road! I was so excited!
So I pulled into a neighborhood that I thought would have a street that we could park and then walk out close to the street. Thankfully, there was one! It was perfect timing, and after seeing Ryken enjoy seeing the big house move, I drove away thanking God for all these little blessings that were making Ryken's birthday extra special!
If anyone is interested in reading about the home on the move here is a small new article!
We went to Walmart, and the kids got to ride in the special cart and see the fish on this fine birthday morning!
On your birthday, Firehouse Subs gives you a free sub (thanks Steph for informing me of this). So we went! Last time we got subs here, just Chris went in, but he said that there was all sorts of fire stuff and that Ryken would love it.
Sure enough! There was pictures of firetrucks everywhere and then there was an actual fire jacket, helmet, books and hose on display!
Gosh, he is the cutest firefighter I have ever seen!!!
Free birthday sub in hand, along with his very own fire hat!
He was a happy boy!!
Mom had to do a tiny little photo shoot to document the occasion!
We had hotdogs and french fries for supper - a feast for this big 3 year old!
He doesn't look thrilled here...but he loved every bite of supper!!
We wanted the movie UP together!
Sitting back, snuggling with Dad, holding on to his orange balloon -a good time!!
It was a fun day celebrating our big boy Ryken!
Every now and then we have a hot breakfast at my mom's group! This morning we did! We always look forward to it. It is always delicious. And we always end up eating too much! :)
Playing in the covered corner!!
Oh these two!!
So much fun together - and what fun it is to watch!
Sorraya's classic pose! She does this often!! She will sometimes even point her finger through her legs! It makes us all laugh.
Raya is obsessed with climbing up on the door when she gets away with it!
Mr. Rudolph was in town for work.
He came over for supper and to read with Ryken!
Always love the views from our Doctor's office!
Ryken had his 3 year well-check.
We have never had to wait as long as we did this time!
So we spun around in the chair, we looked at books, we got animal crackers to eat and bubbles to blow from the nurse to help pass the time!
Silly girl posing in the tunnle!
Found him sleeping on the floor behind his door one afternoon! Thought he was awake because he was out of his bed...and came in to find this! Thankfully, I didn't hit it!
After some trying times with pooping in his underwear instead of the potty...Ryken was in diapers/pull ups for a couple weeks until he could show us that he could keep his underwear dry and clean for 10 days straight. If he got them wet part way through, we started back at day 1. I can't remember when he finished the 10 days...sometime in Feburary...but his reward was getting to wear his underwear again and he was able to pick out a toy. He kept saying he wanted a jeep with a boat! So we went to Toys R Us and he got a jeep with a boat!!
Happy boy!! Happy mom and dad! :)
The air mattress was out for possible guests over the weekend.
We still had the balloons out from Ryken's birthday.
Dad was bouncing the kids!!
Such a fun time!!
Ryken giving his pants a ride down the banister! Weeeeeee!
Saturday, we made a family trip to Home Depot and whenever we hear fork lifts beeping, we are usually running to track them down!
Ryken loves them and we got a good look at one taking something down from the top shelf this trip!
A dear friend from church had her baby shower this weekend!
She is expecting her 3rd, another boy. His name is planned to be Hunter! They have been at the church about 2 years...so this is the first baby CBC gets to welcome into the family!
Clara giving the devotional!
Opening gifts!
Food and fellowship!
Celebrating ordinary moments that make life extraordinary!

Oh it looked like Ryken has a GREAT birthday! Love the orange balloon and that he has a favorite color! :) The house looked so crazy... I will have to read that article. Blake has trouble pooping in his undies too. He can't seem to get the first part in the toilet but can hold the rest until I help him on the potty. I like the idea of 10 days in a row... but I don't think Blake will understand that concept quite yet! Way to go Ryken for getting it all figured out! :) He looks so happy with his truck and boat! :)
